„Allah! Es gibt keine Gottheit außer Ihm, dem Ewiglebenden, dem Erhalter der Existenz. Weder Schläfrigkeit noch Schlaf überkommt Ihn. Ihm gehört, was im Himmel und auf der Erde ist. Sein Kursi (Thron) erstreckt sich über Himmel und Erde, und sie zu bewahren, ermüdet Ihn nicht. Er ist der Allerhöchste, der Größte.“

The Throne Verse, recited for protection and often the first verse learned by heart. It is long, which is why it wants the whole panel rather than a band across one.

“Allah! There is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth. His Kursi (Throne) extends over the heavens and the earth, and preserving them does not tire Him. He is the Most High, the Most Great.”

Mark it before you choose. Run painter's tape on the wall to the outer width and height, then stand back to where you normally sit and look at it from there. On a tall piece, hang it with its middle around 150 cm from the floor and the drop does the rest.

Two layers, cut and bonded

Two sheets of 3 mm MDF are laser cut and bonded together, which is what gives a 6 mm panel its depth without a separate frame or backing board.

On the two layers. Cutting the script and its ground separately and bonding them is what lets the letterforms stand proud of the board — a single sheet would have to be engraved instead, and engraving flattens fine strokes.

Keeping it as it arrived

Dry cloth only

A soft, dry cloth. Wood and acrylic both mark with abrasives, so nothing scouring.

No solvents

Alcohol and glass cleaner will haze acrylic. If a mark will not lift dry, use a barely damp cloth and dry it at once.

Away from damp and direct sun

Wood moves with humidity and acrylic can warm in direct sunlight, so give it an interior wall out of the midday light.
