Kalima Tawheed · Mihrab silhouette

The declaration of faith, cut into a mihrab arch

Kalima Tawheed in gold or silver acrylic, layered over a black mihrab silhouette in wood. Four heights from 50 cm up to 90 cm, so it can anchor a small nook or carry a whole wall.

Three decisions before it ships

  1. Size

Four heights, 50 to 90 cm, drawn to scale against a sofa below.

  2. Finish

Gold or silver acrylic script, both against black.

  3. Hanging

A straight-edged panel, so the level line matters. It ships ready to hang.

What is written on it

Kalima Tawheed

The declaration of faith, and the reason the piece takes the shape it does — a mihrab is the niche a prayer space is oriented around, so the arch is doing more here than decoration.

" لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللهُ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللهِ

“There is no god but Allah, Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.”

Size & scale

A mihrab wants height, and a wall to itself

All four sizes are taller than they are wide, so the constraint is the drop rather than the run of wall. They are drawn below at true scale above a three-seat sofa.

Three-seat sofa · 200 cm wide, 82 cm high 2XL · 68 × 90 cm 26.8 × 35.4 in XL · 56 × 75 cm 22 × 29.5 in L · 45 × 60 cm 17.7 × 23.6 in M · 38 × 50 cm 15 × 19.7 in
SizeWidth × height (in)Width × height (cm)Best for
M15 × 19.7″38 × 50 cmA small nook, an alcove, or beside a doorway
L17.7 × 23.6″45 × 60 cmA prayer corner at standing eye level
XL22 × 29.5″56 × 75 cmThe wall you face when the mat is laid out
2XL26.8 × 35.4″68 × 90 cmA full statement wall in a prayer room or living room

Mark it before you choose. Run painter's tape on the wall to the outer width and height, then stand back to where you normally sit and look at it from there. On a tall piece, hang it with its middle around 150 cm from the floor and the drop does the rest.

Craft

Two materials, so the script separates

The calligraphy is cut from acrylic and layered onto a black wood panel. That is what gives the script its lift — it catches light at a different angle from the matte panel behind it.

  • Cut and layered so the calligraphy sits forward of the panel behind it
  • Wood and acrylic combined, each carrying its own depth and grain
  • Edges finished clean, with no visible fixings on the face

On wood and acrylic. Layering the two materials is what gives the piece its depth: the acrylic carries the line of the calligraphy and the wood behind it gives the panel warmth and weight.

Finishes

The finishes

Both finishes set the script against black, which is what keeps the calligraphy legible from across a room.

Wooden Kalima Tawheed mihrab wall art in gold on black

Gold on Black

The calligraphy in gold against a black panel, which is what gives the script its separation.

Wooden Kalima Tawheed mihrab wall art in silver on black

Silver on Black

The calligraphy in silver against a black panel, which is what gives the script its separation.

Hanging it

A straight edge shows every tilt

A panel with a level top edge is less forgiving than a cut silhouette, so this is worth doing with a pencil rather than by eye.

  1. Find the centre of the wall

Mark the centre point rather than measuring in from a corner — a layered panel wants to sit centred on the wall it occupies.

  2. Tape the outline first

Painter's tape to the full outline lets you judge the proportion from where you normally sit, before any fixing goes in.

  3. Hang and check the level

Hang it, then step back across the room. A panel with a straight top edge shows a tilt more readily than a cut silhouette does.

Where it goes

Where it goes

The prayer corner

The wall you face when you lay out the mat. The smaller sizes sit at standing eye level without crowding a musalla or a niche.

A hallway or landing

A vertical silhouette suits the narrow wall a wide piece never fits, and it reads on the way past.

Above a console

The larger sizes carry a main living-room wall, where the drop does the work width cannot.

Care

Keeping it as it arrived

Dry cloth only

A soft, dry cloth. Wood and acrylic both mark with abrasives, so nothing scouring.

No solvents

Alcohol and glass cleaner will haze acrylic. If a mark will not lift dry, use a barely damp cloth and dry it at once.

Away from damp and direct sun

Wood moves with humidity and acrylic can warm in direct sunlight, so give it an interior wall out of the midday light.

Frequently Asked Questions

The First Kalima is the 'Key to Jannah.' Scholars from the Islamic Bulletin note that its presence in a home creates an environment of 'Tawhid' (Oneness). It acts as a spiritual anchor, reminding the residents to align every action with the pleasure of Allah and the example of the Prophet (PBUH).

Yes, it is highly encouraged as a form of 'Dhikr' (remembrance). The key is 'Adab' (etiquette): it must be placed in a clean, elevated position, typically above eye level. It should never be placed near floors, in bathrooms, or in areas where it might be treated with disrespect.

No. Our metal pieces undergo a premium electro-coating process in Turkey. This industrial-grade finish creates a chemical bond that is rust-resistant and tarnish-proof. Whether you choose Gold, Silver, or Black, the finish is designed to maintain its brilliant, mirror-like luster for decades.

The most traditional and respectful locations are the living room foyer or a dedicated prayer space (Musallah). Hanging it near the entrance of the home is a powerful way to set the spiritual tone for everyone who enters, reminding them of the foundation of their faith.

Accuracy is treated as a sacred 'Amanah' (trust). Every piece is designed in Turkey and cross-referenced with the Uthmani. Master calligraphers meticulously verify every 'Nuqta' (dot) and 'Haraka' (vowel mark) to ensure the divine words are perfectly preserved.

Our wood art offers a warm, 3D organic feel that brings a traditional aesthetic. Our metal art features a sleek, high-end finish with industrial durability. Both materials are handcrafted in our Turkish workshop to ensure museum-quality standards.

Yes, it is common to hang it in a bedroom as a source of peace and a reminder to make the Kalima one's final thought before sleep. Ensure it is mounted securely and high on the wall to maintain the respect due to the declaration of faith.

Treat the art with the same respect as a Mushaf. We recommend using a soft, dry microfiber cloth to gently remove dust. Avoid water or chemical cleaners, as they are unnecessary for our premium finishes and could potentially dull the luster over time.

Our metal art is engineered to be sturdy yet lightweight. Most pieces are designed to be hung with a single nail. They often feature built-in spacers that allow the art to sit 1.5 cm away from the wall, creating a beautiful 3D shadow effect that adds depth to the script.

Turkey is the historical heart of Islamic calligraphy. By manufacturing in our Turkish workshop, we employ craftsmen who have inherited centuries of artistic tradition. This ensures that the proportions of every letter are aesthetically and scripturally perfect, a quality mass-produced items cannot match.
