The Basmala with Al-Baqarah 152

Two columns, sent as a set

The Basmala and Surah Al-Baqarah 152 cut from 1.5 mm steel as two separate pieces, 24 × 99 cm each.

Three decisions before it ships

  1. Size

One size per piece, 24 × 99 cm, drawn to scale against a sofa below.

  2. Finish

Seven finishes: black, matte gold, silver or copper, and gold, silver or copper polished.

  3. Hanging

Two pieces that hang together, so the gap between them is the decision.

What is written on it

The opening phrase, and the exchange

The phrase said before beginning, beside the verse that answers it: remember Me and I will remember you.

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

“In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.”

The Basmala, and Al-Baqarah 2:152

Size & scale

The table is one piece; the set is two of them

Each figure below is one column. The drawing shows the pair at true scale, a finger-width apart — two tall pieces take a wider wall than one suggests.

Three-seat sofa · 200 cm (79 in) wide, 82 cm (32 in) high · pieces drawn 2.5 cm apart One size · 24 × 99 cm each 9.4 × 39 in
SizeWidth × height (in)Width × height (cm)Best for
One size9.4 × 39″24 × 99 cmA tall living-room wall, a stairwell, or either side of a doorway

Tape the whole outline first. A set needs its total footprint marked, not each piece measured — run painter's tape around the full width and height, stand back to where you normally sit, and judge it from there.

Craft

The depth is structural, not printed

Steel rather than sheet metal, cut clean through the script so each column holds its line at a meter tall and the wall color fills the letterforms.

  • Two columns cut to match, sent as separate pieces
  • Letterforms cut clean through, so the wall color becomes part of the artwork
  • Cut edges left clean through the fine strokes of the script
  • The weight and the edge of real metal rather than a printed panel

Why the cut matters. Because the script is cut out of the sheet rather than printed onto it, the wall behind becomes part of the artwork and the piece changes with the light in the room through the day.

Finishes

The finishes

Seven finishes. The matte options give the most uniform surface; the polished ones throw light back into the room.

Basmala and Surah Baqarah 152 metal pair in shiny gold

Shiny Gold

The most reflective of the set and the one most often chosen for a main living-room wall.

Basmala and Surah Baqarah 152 metal pair in shiny silver

Shiny Silver

Throws light back into the room, so it lifts a wall that sits away from a window.

Basmala and Surah Baqarah 152 metal pair in shiny copper

Shiny Copper

Warmer than the gold and less common, and worth it if the room already has brass or wood tones.

Basmala and Surah Baqarah 152 metal pair in black

Black

The sharpest contrast of the set against a pale wall, and the one that reads most clearly from across a room.

Basmala and Surah Baqarah 152 metal pair in matte gold

Matte Gold

Warmth without shine, which suits a room lit mostly by lamps rather than daylight.

Basmala and Surah Baqarah 152 metal pair in matte silver

Matte Silver

Cool and quiet, and the easiest to place in a room that already has chrome or glass in it.

Basmala and Surah Baqarah 152 metal pair in matte copper

Matte Copper

The warmest of the matte finishes, and the one that reads best against green, clay or deep neutral walls.

Hanging it

Two plumb lines, one shared top

Two tall pieces read as one when their tops align and the gap is even. Mark a plumb line for each rather than measuring in from a corner.

  1. Lay the set out on the floor

Arrange every piece exactly as it should read on the wall, with even gaps, then measure the total width and the distance to each fixing.

  2. Mark one shared line

Pencil a single level line on the wall and put every fixing on it. That is what keeps the pieces reading as one composition.

  3. Tape the outline, then work across

Painter's tape to the full outline lets you check the whole arrangement before drilling. Hang from one end and work across, checking each piece against the line.

  • Assembly tools included
  • Packed with corner protection for transit

Where it goes

Where the pair goes

Above the sofa

The wall this was designed for, spanning roughly two thirds of the seat beneath it.

Dining and console walls

A long, low piece sits naturally over a sideboard or a dining table, where a tall piece would crowd the ceiling.

Entryway and hallway

Cut work keeps a corridor from feeling closed in, because the wall reads through the letterforms.

Care

Keeping it as it arrived

Dry cloth only

A soft, dry cloth along the length of the script. Nothing abrasive.

No cleaners

Alcohol, glass cleaner and polish will mark a finished metal surface. A barely damp cloth, dried at once, is enough.

Away from damp

An indoor piece. Keep it off bathroom walls and away from a kitchen extractor.

Choose your size and finish

One size, and the finish is the rest of the decision. Tape the outline on the wall first — it is the only measurement that matters.
