Surah At-Tahrim, verse 8

Perfect for us our light, and forgive us

The dua from At-Tahrim 8 cut from metal in two lengths — 64 and 99 cm — in copper, gold, silver or black, ready to use out of the box.

Three decisions before it ships

  1. Size

Two lengths, 64 or 99 cm wide, drawn to scale against a sofa below.

  2. Finish

Four colors — copper, gold, silver or black.

  3. Hanging

    Ready to use on delivery.

What is written on it

The dua itself

Our Lord, perfect for us our light and forgive us — indeed, You are over all things competent. A dua asked at the end of the verse about turning back in repentance.

رَبَّنَٓا اَتْمِمْ لَنَا نُورَنَا وَاغْفِرْ لَنَاۚ اِنَّكَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَد۪يرٌ

“Our Lord, perfect for us our light and forgive us. Indeed, You are over all things competent.”

Surah At-Tahrim 66:8

Size & scale

Measured against a sofa, not a photograph

Both sizes are around two and a half times wider than they are tall, so the constraint is the clear run of wall. They are drawn below at true scale above a three-seat sofa.

Three-seat sofa · 200 cm (79 in) wide, 82 cm (32 in) high XL · 99 × 39 cm 39 × 15.4 in L · 64 × 25 cm 25.2 × 9.8 in
SizeWidth × height (in)Width × height (cm)Best for
L25.2 × 9.8″64 × 25 cmAbove a console, a two-seat sofa, or in a prayer corner
XL39 × 15.4″99 × 39 cmA living-room feature wall, above a sideboard or a three-seat sofa

Match it to the furniture, not the wall. A low horizontal piece looks right when it spans roughly two thirds of whatever sits beneath it. Run painter's tape to the full width first and look at it from where you normally sit.

Materials

What it is made of

Material
MetalPrecision cut
Finishing
Cut metalFinished in the tone shown

Craft

The depth is structural, not printed

The letterforms are cut clean through the metal, so the wall color shows between them and becomes part of the piece rather than a background to it.

  • Letterforms cut clean through, so the wall color becomes part of the artwork
  • Cut edges left clean through the fine strokes of the script
  • The weight and the edge of real metal rather than a printed panel

Why the cut matters. Because the script is cut out of the sheet rather than printed onto it, the wall behind becomes part of the artwork and the piece changes with the light in the room through the day.

Finishes

The finishes

Four colors on the same cut band. Black reads as a silhouette against a pale wall; gold and copper warm a lamp-lit room; silver stays cool.

Surah At-Tahrim verse 8 metal wall art in copper

Copper

The warmest of the set, and the one that reads best against green, clay or deep neutral walls.

Surah At-Tahrim verse 8 metal wall art in gold

Gold

Warm and bright, and the one that reads best against off-white and cream walls.

Surah At-Tahrim verse 8 metal wall art in silver

Silver

Cool and quiet, and the easiest to place in a room that already has chrome or glass in it.

Surah At-Tahrim verse 8 metal wall art in black

Black

The sharpest contrast of the set against a pale wall, and the one that reads most clearly from across a room.

Hanging it

One level line does the whole job

A low, wide piece shows every degree of tilt, so mark the line rather than judging it by eye.

  1. Measure to the fixing first

Set it face up and measure from the left edge to each fixing point, so the wall marks come from the piece rather than from guesswork.

  2. Pencil one level line

A low, wide piece shows every degree of tilt, so mark a light horizontal line and put every fixing on it.

  3. Tape the width, then hang

Painter's tape to the full width lets you check the position from across the room before drilling.

Where it goes

Where it goes

Above the sofa

The wall this was designed for, spanning roughly two thirds of the seat beneath it.

Dining and console walls

A long, low piece sits naturally over a sideboard or a dining table, where a tall piece would crowd the ceiling.

Entryway and hallway

Cut work keeps a corridor from feeling closed in, because the wall reads through the letterforms.

FinishesFour to choose fromUsually one fixed color
SizesTwo, up to 99 cm wideOften a single fixed size
The textThe whole dua, in one bandOften an excerpt rather than the whole text

Care

Keeping it as it arrived

Dry cloth only

A soft, dry cloth along the length of the script. Nothing abrasive.

No cleaners

Alcohol, glass cleaner and polish will mark a finished metal surface. A barely damp cloth, dried at once, is enough.

Away from damp

An indoor piece. Keep it off bathroom walls and away from a kitchen extractor.

Choose your size and finish

Two sizes, and the finish is the rest of the decision. Tape the width on the wall first — it is the only measurement that matters.

Frequently Asked Questions

This prayer is uniquely situated at the moment of transition into Paradise. As believers see the light of the hypocrites being extinguished, they fear for their own and cry out to Allah to 'perfect' (atmim) their light. It represents the ultimate hope of a believer: that their faith remains illuminated until the very end.

While the verse refers to the hereafter, it serves as a daily reminder to seek clarity and guidance in this world. Displaying this verse encourages a household to pray for 'Basirah' (spiritual insight), reminding the family that true success is not just material wealth, but the preservation of one’s inner light through forgiveness and faith.

In Islamic theology, sins are often described as 'darkness' that clouds the heart. By asking for forgiveness (*waghfir lana*), the believer is asking Allah to remove the obstructions that dim their spiritual light. This verse teaches that the perfection of one's path is inextricably linked to the constant seeking of Divine mercy.

Our Tahrim 8 designs typically utilize a majestic 'Thuluth' script, known for its vertical elegance and balanced proportions. The composition is engineered to draw the eye to the word 'Rabbana' (Our Lord), creating a focal point that emphasizes the intimacy of the supplication.

We employ a precision laser-cutting process on high-grade material. The piece is mounted to sit approximately 1.5 cm away from the wall. This 'floating' effect allows your room's ambient light to cast soft shadows behind the Arabic letters, giving the sacred text a sculptural, living presence that shifts throughout the day.

Yes. Each piece is treated with an industrial-grade, electrostatic powder coating or acrylic. This creates a barrier that is anti-tarnish and moisture-resistant. Whether you choose brushed gold, polished silver, or matte black, the luster is designed to remain vibrant for decades without fading or rusting.

To preserve the premium textures and sharp edges of the 3D art work, a simple wipe with a dry, soft microfiber cloth is sufficient. Avoiding chemical cleaners or water ensures that the specialized finish stays vivid and clear for the lifetime of the piece.

Gifting a prayer for 'Perfected Light' is a deeply symbolic gesture for someone who has just completed a spiritual journey. It represents a wish for their newfound clarity to stay with them forever. It is a sophisticated alternative to generic gifts, offering both high-end aesthetic value and profound spiritual meaning.

Absolutely. Each design features an integrated hanging mechanism on the reverse side. This allows the piece to be mounted securely with a single nail or screw, sitting flush yet 'floating' off the wall. The hardware remains invisible, ensuring the visual focus stays entirely on the calligraphy.

Our master designers in Turkey meticulously verify every vowel and 'harakat' (diacritical mark) to ensure 100% theological accuracy. We combine centuries of Ottoman calligraphic tradition with modern industrial precision to deliver a piece that is as spiritually sound as it is artistically superior.

The screws in the metal wall art are for the hanging bracket on the back and for the blind feet to provide a 3D view. Never attempt to remove them.
