The mihrab verse

Cut in wood, laid on velvet, framed

Laser cut from wood, laid over a velvet ground and framed behind it. Made in one size, 110 × 50 cm.

Three decisions before it ships

  1. Size

Made in one size, 110 × 50 cm, drawn to scale against a sofa below.

  2. Finish

Six velvet grounds — anthracite, black, blue, cream, green or red, with calligraphy in gold or silver.

  3. Hanging

The hanging tools come in the box, so the only decision is where the run of it goes.

What is written on it

The words themselves

So turn your face toward al-Masjid al-Haram — the verse behind the direction of prayer, which is what puts it on the qibla wall.

Size & scale

Made in one size, 110 × 50 cm

One size only, 110 × 50 cm. It is 110 cm wide, so the wall has to take that run in one clear span. It is drawn below at true scale above a three-seat sofa.

Three-seat sofa · 200 cm (79 in) wide, 82 cm (32 in) high One size · 110 × 50 cm 43.3 × 19.7 in
SizeWidth × height (in)Width × height (cm)Best for
One size43.3 × 19.7″110 × 50 cmAbove a sofa, a sideboard or an entry console

Match it to the furniture, not the wall. A low horizontal piece looks right when it spans roughly two thirds of whatever sits beneath it. Run painter's tape to the full width first and look at it from where you normally sit.

Craft

Three materials, one panel

The calligraphy is laser cut from wood and laid over a velvet ground, with a wooden frame around the whole panel. The velvet absorbs the light the cut wood reflects, and that difference is what the piece is built on.

  • Laser-cut wood over a velvet ground, framed
  • Calligraphy laser cut from wood and laid over a velvet ground
  • A wooden frame around the whole panel, with the hanging tools supplied
  • The cut edge of the wood left clean against the velvet behind it

On the velvet ground. Velvet absorbs light where the cut wood reflects it. That difference is the whole design: it is what makes the calligraphy read from across a room without any color contrast doing the work.

Hanging it

One level line, at reading height

A framed panel this wide is hung once and left, so the two minutes spent finding the level line are the whole job.

  1. Measure from the top edge to the fixing

Lay it face up on a clean surface, not face down — the velvet picks up whatever the table has on it. Measure from the top edge to the fixing on the frame.

  2. Pencil one level line at that height

Mark a light horizontal line, centered on the furniture below rather than on the wall as a whole. On a wide panel a degree off reads from the doorway.

  3. Hang by the frame, never the face

Lift it by two corners of the frame. A thumb on the velvet leaves a mark on the pile that shows from an angle for weeks.

Where it goes

Where it goes

Above the sofa

The wall a wide glass panel was made for, spanning roughly two thirds of the seat beneath it.

Dining and console walls

A long, low panel sits naturally over a sideboard, and glass takes the light a matte piece cannot.

An entry or hallway

A mirrored ground throws light back down a corridor, which is what makes a narrow space read wider.

Care

Keeping it as it arrived

Brush the velvet, do not wipe it

A soft, dry brush along the pile. A cloth drags the nap and leaves a mark that shows from an angle.

Nothing wet

Water spots velvet permanently and will swell the wood. Keep every liquid away from it.

Out of direct sun

Velvet fades faster than most surfaces in this catalog. An interior wall out of the midday light.

Frequently Asked Questions

For the first 16 to 17 months in Medina, Muslims prayed toward Al-Aqsa in Jerusalem. This verse was revealed while the Prophet (PBUH) was in the middle of a prayer, signaling a shift that established the Kaaba as the focal point of Islamic unity. It wasn't just a change in geography; it was a formal declaration of the Ummah's distinct identity and a test of obedience for the believers.

The verse beautifully highlights Allah's intimacy with His Messenger. Before a formal request was even made, Allah 'saw the turning of his face' and his silent hope. It teaches us that Allah is aware of our unspoken prayers and the deep desires of our hearts, even before we find the words to articulate them.

Displaying this verse serves as a metaphor for focus. Just as the Qibla was fixed to provide a singular direction for prayer, this calligraphy reminds the household to align their life’s goals and intentions toward the Creator. It is a visual anchor that promotes spiritual consistency and clarity of purpose.

Given the theme of 'turning' and 'heaven,' our designs for 2:144 often utilize an expansive, circular or ascending 'Thuluth' script. The composition is balanced to emphasize the words 'Wajhika' (Your Face) and 'Masjid al-Haram,' creating a visual movement that mirrors the historical transition described in the text.

We use precision on our high-grade material. The art is mounted with specialized spacers, allowing it to sit about 1.5 cm off the wall. This 'floating' effect creates a physical depth where shadows shift as the sun moves, making the sacred words appear to have a dynamic, three-dimensional presence in the room.

Yes. Each piece undergoes an electrostatic powder-coating process or ornamented with acrylic. This industrial-strength finish—available in brushed gold, polished silver, or matte black—is anti-tarnish, moisture-resistant, and UV-protected. It ensures the luster remains vibrant for decades without the risk of rust, even in humid environments.

Maintenance is intentionally minimal to preserve the specialized coating. A simple dusting with a dry, soft microfiber cloth once a month is all that is required. We recommend avoiding wet wipes or chemical cleaners, as the 3D coating is designed to maintain its brilliance through minimal, dry care.

Gifting the verse of the 'Qibla Change' is a way of wishing a family spiritual direction and focus in their new space. It is a prestigious choice for housewarmings because it marks the 'orientation' of a home, symbolically aligning the new household with the sacred center of the Muslim world.

The engineering is almost seamless except for the screw spacers. Each design features a integrated hanging bracket on the reverse side. This allows the piece to be mounted securely with a single nail or screw while keeping all hardware invisible, ensuring the visual focus stays 100% on the elegant calligraphy.

Our master designers in Turkey verify every 'harakat' (vowel mark) and diacritical point against the Uthmani script to ensure 100% theological accuracy. We bridge centuries of Ottoman tradition with modern laser-cutting precision, delivering a piece that is as spiritually sound as it is artistically superior.

The artworks typically feature high-quality velvet backgrounds with laser-cut wooden calligraphy, all encased in sturdy wooden frames. This combination ensures both durability and an elegant aesthetic.

To maintain the artwork's pristine condition, gently dust it with a dry, soft cloth. Avoid using water, alcohol, or chemical cleaners, as these can damage the materials and affect the artwork's appearance.
