Match it to the furniture, not the wall. A low horizontal piece looks right when it spans roughly two thirds of whatever sits beneath it. Run painter's tape to the full width first and look at it from where you normally sit.

The script is cut into a 6 mm MDF board and faced with a 1.2 mm shiny acrylic layer, so the letterforms stand forward of the board rather than printed onto it.

On wood and acrylic. Layering the two materials is what gives the piece its depth: the acrylic carries the line of the calligraphy and the wood behind it gives the panel warmth and weight.

A low band shows a tilt more than a deep piece does, so mark the line rather than judging it by eye.

  1. Find the center of the wall

    Mark the center point rather than measuring in from a corner — a layered panel wants to sit centered on the wall it occupies.

  2. Tape the outline first

    Painter's tape to the full outline lets you judge the proportion from where you normally sit, before any fixing goes in.

  3. Hang and check the level

    Hang it, then step back across the room. A panel with a straight top edge shows a tilt more readily than a cut silhouette does.

A soft, dry cloth. Wood and acrylic both mark with abrasives, so nothing scouring.

No solvents

Alcohol and glass cleaner will haze acrylic. If a mark will not lift dry, use a barely damp cloth and dry it at once.
