Kalima Shahadat, in Hamid Aytaç’s hand

Cut in wood, laid on velvet, framed

Laser cut from wood, laid over a velvet ground and framed behind it. Made in one size, 70 × 70 cm.

Three decisions before it ships

  1. Size

Made in one size, 70 × 70 cm, drawn to scale against a sofa below.

  2. Finish

Six velvet grounds — anthracite, black, blue, cream, green or red, with calligraphy in gold or silver.

  3. Hanging

The hanging tools come in the box, so the only decision is which wall it centers on.

Size & scale

Made in one size, 70 × 70 cm

One size only, 70 × 70 cm. It is 70 cm on a side, so it wants a wall it can sit in the middle of rather than a run. It is drawn below at true scale above a three-seat sofa.

Three-seat sofa · 200 cm (79 in) wide, 82 cm (32 in) high One size · 70 × 70 cm 27.6 × 27.6 in
SizeWidth × height (in)Width × height (cm)Best for
One size27.6 × 27.6″70 × 70 cmA prayer corner, or above a console

Mark it before you choose. Run painter's tape on the wall to the outer width and height, then stand back to where you normally sit and look at it from there. On a tall piece, hang it with its middle around 150 cm from the floor and the drop does the rest.

Craft

Three materials, one panel

The calligraphy is laser cut from wood and laid over a velvet ground, with a wooden frame around the whole panel. The velvet absorbs the light the cut wood reflects, and that difference is what the piece is built on.

  • Laser-cut wood over a velvet ground, framed
  • Calligraphy laser cut from wood and laid over a velvet ground
  • A wooden frame around the whole panel, with the hanging tools supplied
  • The cut edge of the wood left clean against the velvet behind it

On the velvet ground. Velvet absorbs light where the cut wood reflects it. That difference is the whole design: it is what makes the calligraphy read from across a room without any color contrast doing the work.

Hanging it

One level line, at reading height

A framed panel this wide is hung once and left, so the two minutes spent finding the level line are the whole job.

  1. Measure from the top edge to the fixing

Lay it face up on a clean surface, not face down — the velvet picks up whatever the table has on it. Measure from the top edge to the fixing on the frame.

  2. Pencil one level line at that height

Mark a light horizontal line, centered on the furniture below rather than on the wall as a whole. On a wide panel a degree off reads from the doorway.

  3. Hang by the frame, never the face

Lift it by two corners of the frame. A thumb on the velvet leaves a mark on the pile that shows from an angle for weeks.

Where it goes

Where it goes

The prayer corner

The wall you face when you lay out the mat. A square centers a small wall without leaning tall or wide.

Above a console or a sideboard

A square sits comfortably over a run of furniture, where it reads as one block rather than a band.

A study or a reading wall

The smaller size holds a narrow wall beside a door or a bookcase, at standing eye level.

Care

Keeping it as it arrived

Brush the velvet, do not wipe it

A soft, dry brush along the pile. A cloth drags the nap and leaves a mark that shows from an angle.

Nothing wet

Water spots velvet permanently and will swell the wood. Keep every liquid away from it.

Out of direct sun

Velvet fades faster than most surfaces in this catalog. An interior wall out of the midday light.

Choose your size and finish

One size, one construction. Tape the 70 × 70 cm outline on the wall before you order — a framed panel reads larger on a wall than in a photograph.

Frequently Asked Questions

Absolutely! Our framed Islamic calligraphy artworks are ready and easy to hang upon delivery.

Absolutely. The Islamic Wall Art Store offers customization options for frame colors, sizes, and calligraphy styles. If you have specific preferences, you can contact their customer service to discuss bespoke orders tailored to your requirements.

The artworks typically feature high-quality velvet backgrounds with laser-cut wooden calligraphy, all encased in sturdy wooden frames. This combination ensures both durability and an elegant aesthetic.

To maintain the artwork's pristine condition, gently dust it with a dry, soft cloth. Avoid using water, alcohol, or chemical cleaners, as these can damage the materials and affect the artwork's appearance.

The First Kalima is the 'Key to Jannah.' Scholars from the Islamic Bulletin note that its presence in a home creates an environment of 'Tawhid' (Oneness). It acts as a spiritual anchor, reminding the residents to align every action with the pleasure of Allah and the example of the Prophet (PBUH).

Yes, it is highly encouraged as a form of 'Dhikr' (remembrance). The key is 'Adab' (etiquette): it must be placed in a clean, elevated position, typically above eye level. It should never be placed near floors, in bathrooms, or in areas where it might be treated with disrespect.

No. Our metal pieces undergo a premium electro-coating process in Turkey. This industrial-grade finish creates a chemical bond that is rust-resistant and tarnish-proof. Whether you choose Gold, Silver, or Black, the finish is designed to maintain its brilliant, mirror-like luster for decades.

The most traditional and respectful locations are the living room foyer or a dedicated prayer space (Musallah). Hanging it near the entrance of the home is a powerful way to set the spiritual tone for everyone who enters, reminding them of the foundation of their faith.

Accuracy is treated as a sacred 'Amanah' (trust). Every piece is designed in Turkey and cross-referenced with the Uthmani. Master calligraphers meticulously verify every 'Nuqta' (dot) and 'Haraka' (vowel mark) to ensure the divine words are perfectly preserved.

Our wood art offers a warm, 3D organic feel that brings a traditional aesthetic. Our metal art features a sleek, high-end finish with industrial durability. Both materials are handcrafted in our Turkish workshop to ensure museum-quality standards.

Yes, it is common to hang it in a bedroom as a source of peace and a reminder to make the Kalima one's final thought before sleep. Ensure it is mounted securely and high on the wall to maintain the respect due to the declaration of faith.

Treat the art with the same respect as a Mushaf. We recommend using a soft, dry microfiber cloth to gently remove dust. Avoid water or chemical cleaners, as they are unnecessary for our premium finishes and could potentially dull the luster over time.

Our metal art is engineered to be sturdy yet lightweight. Most pieces are designed to be hung with a single nail. They often feature built-in spacers that allow the art to sit 1.5 cm away from the wall, creating a beautiful 3D shadow effect that adds depth to the script.

Turkey is the historical heart of Islamic calligraphy. By manufacturing in our Turkish workshop, we employ craftsmen who have inherited centuries of artistic tradition. This ensures that the proportions of every letter are aesthetically and scripturally perfect, a quality mass-produced items cannot match.
