Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 156

To Allah we belong, and to Him we return

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un cut from metal, in two lengths — 69 and 99 cm — in copper, gold, silver or black.

Three decisions before it ships

  1. Size

Two lengths, 69 or 99 cm wide, drawn to scale against a sofa below.

  2. Finish

Four colors — copper, gold, silver or black.

  3. Hanging

    Ready to use on delivery.

What is written on it

The words said at a loss

Said by those who, when struck by a disaster, say: surely to Allah we belong and to Him we will return. It is bought as often for a home as for a gift after a death.

إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ

“Surely to Allah we belong and to Him we will return.”

Surah Al-Baqarah 2:156

Size & scale

Measured against a sofa, not a photograph

Both sizes are around four times wider than they are tall, so the constraint is the clear run of wall. They are drawn below at true scale above a three-seat sofa.

Three-seat sofa · 200 cm (79 in) wide, 82 cm (32 in) high XL · 99 × 27 cm 39 × 10.6 in L · 69 × 19 cm 27.2 × 7.5 in
SizeWidth × height (in)Width × height (cm)Best for
L27.2 × 7.5″69 × 19 cmAbove a console, a two-seat sofa, or in a prayer corner
XL39 × 10.6″99 × 27 cmA living-room feature wall, above a sideboard or a three-seat sofa

Match it to the furniture, not the wall. A low horizontal piece looks right when it spans roughly two thirds of whatever sits beneath it. Run painter's tape to the full width first and look at it from where you normally sit.

Craft

The depth is structural, not printed

The letterforms are cut clean through the metal, so the wall color shows between them and becomes part of the piece rather than a background to it.

  • Letterforms cut clean through, so the wall color becomes part of the artwork
  • Cut edges left clean through the fine strokes of the script
  • The weight and the edge of real metal rather than a printed panel

Why the cut matters. Because the script is cut out of the sheet rather than printed onto it, the wall behind becomes part of the artwork and the piece changes with the light in the room through the day.

Hanging it

One level line does the whole job

A narrow band shows a tilt more than a deep piece does, so mark the line rather than judging it by eye.

  1. Measure to the fixing first

Set it face up and measure from the left edge to each fixing point, so the wall marks come from the piece rather than from guesswork.

  2. Pencil one level line

A low, wide piece shows every degree of tilt, so mark a light horizontal line and put every fixing on it.

  3. Tape the width, then hang

Painter's tape to the full width lets you check the position from across the room before drilling.

Where it goes

Where it goes

Above the sofa

The wall this was designed for, spanning roughly two thirds of the seat beneath it.

Dining and console walls

A long, low piece sits naturally over a sideboard or a dining table, where a tall piece would crowd the ceiling.

Entryway and hallway

Cut work keeps a corridor from feeling closed in, because the wall reads through the letterforms.

Care

Keeping it as it arrived

Dry cloth only

A soft, dry cloth along the length of the script. Nothing abrasive.

No cleaners

Alcohol, glass cleaner and polish will mark a finished metal surface. A barely damp cloth, dried at once, is enough.

Away from damp

An indoor piece. Keep it off bathroom walls and away from a kitchen extractor.

Choose your size and finish

Two sizes, and the finish is the rest of the decision. Tape the width on the wall first — it is the only measurement that matters.

Frequently Asked Questions

This verse is the definition of 'Istirja' (the act of returning to Allah). It signifies that nothing in this world—not our wealth, our loved ones, nor our own lives—truly belongs to us. It is a declaration of trust that provides immense comfort by reminding us that every trial is temporary and that our ultimate peace lies in our return to the Creator.

While often recited during loss, this verse is a life-philosophy. In the home, it serves as a daily reminder to maintain a healthy detachment from worldly stresses. It encourages a perspective of 'Sabr' (patience), helping the heart remain steady during minor daily frustrations by keeping the 'Big Picture' of our existence in focus.

Many families place this in a living room, hallway, or a quiet space dedicated to reflection. Because of its deep spiritual weight, it is best placed where it can be seen clearly during moments of quiet contemplation, serving as a dignified anchor for the home's emotional and spiritual atmosphere.

This piece utilizes a majestic 'Thuluth' script, known for its balanced proportions and fluid connections. The design is intentionally elegant and clean, allowing the power of the sacred words to remain the primary focus. It is a versatile centerpiece that fits both traditional and modern luxury interiors.

We use an intricate multi-layered 3D technique that gives the calligraphy physical depth. Unlike flat prints, this metal art interacts with your room’s lighting; as the light shifts throughout the day, the art casts soft shadows that give the sacred text a prominent, 'living' presence on your wall.

The piece is treated with high-luster, specialized coatings that are moisture-resistant and anti-tarnish. This professional finish ensures that the deep golds, silvers, or blacks retain their brilliance for decades without fading, even in environments with varying humidity.

To preserve the reflective surfaces and sharp lines of the 3D script, a simple wipe with a dry, soft microfiber cloth is all that is required. Avoiding chemical cleaners or water ensures the integrity of the specialized finish remains intact for the lifetime of the piece.

Gifting 'Inna Lillahi' is a gesture of profound empathy and spiritual support. It is a prestigious and thoughtful choice for someone going through a trial or for a family establishing a new home, offering them a permanent source of Divine reassurance and a reminder of their eternal home.

Yes. Each design features an integrated, hidden hanging system on the reverse side. This allows the piece to sit securely against the wall with a professional 'floating' appearance, keeping the focus entirely on the sacred calligraphy without visible or distracting hardware.

Our master designers in Turkey meticulously verify every vowel and diacritical mark to ensure 100% calligraphic accuracy. We bridge centuries of heritage with modern production standards to deliver a piece that is as spiritually sound as it is artistically superior.

The screws in the metal wall art are for the hanging bracket on the back and for the blind feet to provide a 3D view. Never attempt to remove them.

Metal products can be used outdoors, but are not recommended for direct rain, moisture or sunlight.

Yes, it can be done. First, confirm with customer service whether this is possible. If our designer approves, you will receive a custom order payment link.

We do not recommend any chemical products. You can remove dust with a slightly damp cloth.
