Auzu Basmala and Dua al-Fath

A ship, cut from powder-painted steel

The Auzu Basmala with Dua al-Fath, cut from 1.5 mm steel in the shape of a ship and powder painted matte. Two lengths, 69 and 99 cm, in black, gold or silver.

Three decisions before it ships

  1. Size

Two lengths, 69 or 99 cm wide, drawn to scale against a sofa below.

  2. Finish

Three matte colors in a powder paint.

  3. Hanging

    Hanging tools are included.

What is written on it

What is written on it

The seeking of refuge and the Basmala, followed by the dua of opening — O Opener of doors, open for us the best door. The ship is the form the words are cut into.

أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم، بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم، اللهم يا مفتح الأبواب افتح لنا خير باب

“I seek refuge in God from Satan the accursed. In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. O God, O Opener of doors, open for us the best door.”

Size & scale

Measured against a sofa, not a photograph

Both sizes are about three times wider than they are tall, so the constraint is the clear run of wall. They are drawn below at true scale above a three-seat sofa.

Three-seat sofa · 200 cm (79 in) wide, 82 cm (32 in) high L · 99 × 33 cm 39 × 13 in M · 69 × 23 cm 27.2 × 9.1 in
SizeWidth × height (in)Width × height (cm)Best for
M27.2 × 9.1″69 × 23 cmAbove a console, a two-seat sofa, or the wall by the front door
L39 × 13″99 × 33 cmA living-room feature wall, above a sideboard or a three-seat sofa

Match it to the furniture, not the wall. A low horizontal piece looks right when it spans roughly two thirds of whatever sits beneath it. Run painter's tape to the full width first and look at it from where you normally sit.

Materials

What it is made of

Material
Steel1.5 mm sheet
Finishing
Powder coatElectrostatic, matte

Craft

The depth is structural, not printed

The letterforms and the hull are cut as one silhouette from 1.5 mm steel, so the wall color fills the script and the shape reads as a ship at a distance and as calligraphy up close.

  • The words and the hull cut as a single silhouette
  • Letterforms cut clean through, so the wall color becomes part of the artwork
  • Electrostatic powder coating, baked on for a hard, even surface
  • No odour and no harmful substances

A coating that is baked, not sprayed. Powder is applied electrostatically and then cured, which gives a harder and more even surface than a sprayed paint and holds its color without yellowing.

Finishes

The finishes

Three matte colors in the same powder paint. Black reads as a silhouette against a pale wall; gold and silver stay flat rather than reflective.

Auzu Basmala ship-shaped metal wall art in black

Black

The sharpest contrast of the set against a pale wall, and the one that reads most clearly from across a room.

Auzu Basmala ship-shaped metal wall art in gold

Gold

Warm and bright, and the one that reads best against off-white and cream walls.

Auzu Basmala ship-shaped metal wall art in silver

Silver

Cool and quiet, and the easiest to place in a room that already has chrome or glass in it.

Hanging it

One level line does the whole job

A low, wide silhouette shows every degree of tilt, so mark the line rather than judging it by eye.

  1. Measure to the fixing first

Set it face up and measure from the left edge to each fixing point, so the wall marks come from the piece rather than from guesswork.

  2. Pencil one level line

A low, wide piece shows every degree of tilt, so mark a light horizontal line and put every fixing on it.

  3. Tape the width, then hang

Painter's tape to the full width lets you check the position from across the room before drilling.

Where it goes

Where it goes

By the front door

The wall you pass on the way in and out, which is where a dua about entering and leaving belongs.

Above a console

A long, low piece spans a hallway console without crowding the ceiling above it.

Dining and living walls

It carries a wide wall on its own, and leaves the room feeling open because the wall reads through the script.

Against the alternatives

This pieceCommonly sold alternatives
MaterialCut metal, electrostatic powder coatedPrinted canvas, acrylic sheet, or thin laser-cut board
FinishesThree to choose fromUsually one fixed color
SizesTwo, up to 99 cm wideOften a single fixed size
The textA silhouette that is also the textOften an excerpt rather than the whole text

Care

Keeping it as it arrived

Dry cloth only

A soft, dry cloth along the length of the script. A baked powder coat is harder than sprayed paint and takes dusting well.

No solvents

Alcohol, glass cleaner and polish will dull a matte surface. If a mark will not lift dry, use a barely damp cloth and dry it at once.

Damp resistant

The powder coat handles humidity better than a painted finish. Give it an indoor wall away from a bathroom or a kitchen extractor.

Choose your size and finish

Two sizes, and the finish is the rest of the decision. Tape the width on the wall first — it is the only measurement that matters.

Frequently Asked Questions

The combination is known as 'Isti'adha' (seeking refuge) and 'Tasmiya' (naming Allah). According to Quranic etiquette (Surah An-Nahl 16:98), one should seek refuge from Shaytan before reciting the Quran or starting significant tasks. Having this on your wall acts as a constant guard for the home, reminding residents to displace negative energy with divine remembrance.

Yes, it is highly encouraged. Scholars from the Islamic Bulletin suggest that these verses serve as 'Dhikr' (remembrance) and a means of 'Barakah' (blessing). It is not considered a 'talisman' in a forbidden sense as long as the homeowner recognizes that the protection comes from Allah alone, and the art serves as the visual reminder to turn toward Him.

The most traditional and effective location is at the main entrance or the doorway of the most-used family room. This ensures that every time someone enters a space, they are reminded to say 'Bismillah.' This practice is known to bring peace and 'Sakina' (tranquility) into the household and ward off distractions and discord.

We take the sanctity of the Basmala very seriously. Every piece is designed in Turkey by calligraphers who follow the classical Uthmani script standards. We meticulously check the 'Nuqta' (dots) and 'Haraka' (vowel marks) to ensure the divine names of 'Ar-Rahman' and 'Ar-Rahim' are perfectly and accurately represented.

Our wooden arts provide a warm, 3D layered aesthetic that feels organic and traditional. Our metal arts feature an industrial electro-coated finish—available in Gold, Silver, or Black—that offers a sleek, modern look. The metal version is particularly durable and rust-resistant, making it a premium choice for high-traffic entryways.

In Islam, the protection comes from the remembrance and the 'Niyyah' (intention) of the believer. The art is a powerful tool to facilitate that remembrance. When you see the Basmala and recite it, you are actively seeking Allah's protection. Cultivating a home environment where His name is prominent is believed to invite angels and divine mercy into the space.

No, our metal art is not simply spray-painted. We use a high-end electro-coating process in our Turkish facility that creates a chemical bond between the finish and the metal. This ensures the gold or silver luster remains vibrant and does not tarnish, peel, or fade, even if the piece is exposed to natural sunlight or indoor humidity.

Cleaning your Islamic art can be an act of 'Ibada' (worship). We recommend using a soft, dry microfiber cloth to gently remove dust. Avoid water or household cleaners that contain chemicals. Many of our customers prefer to be in a state of 'Wudu' (ablution) when handling or cleaning these pieces as a mark of 'Adab' (respect) for the words of Allah.

Absolutely. It is a beautiful way to introduce children to the concept of seeking refuge in Allah from a young age. It helps them feel safe and connected to their faith. Just ensure it is mounted securely and at a height that is out of reach of small children to maintain the physical integrity and respect of the sacred text.

With over 6,000 positive reviews, our shipping process is highly reliable. Once your piece is handcrafted (2-6 days depending on material), we use express shipping to deliver it to your door in 3-5 business days. We provide 24/7 expert support and real-time tracking so you can welcome these blessed verses into your home without delay.

The screws in the metal wall art are for the hanging bracket on the back and for the blind feet to provide a 3D view. Never attempt to remove them.

Metal products can be used outdoors, but are not recommended for direct rain, moisture or sunlight.

Yes, it can be done. First, confirm with customer service whether this is possible. If our designer approves, you will receive a custom order payment link.

Our products are made by hand, using labor-intensive techniques. Some minor defects are within the limits, and we indicate this in the listing details. If you detect a defect that exceeds the limits, contact customer service.

It will not darken unless exposed to moisture in normal indoor environments. We do not recommend protecting it from moisture or exposure to rain or direct sunlight outdoors.

We do not recommend any chemical products. You can remove dust with a slightly damp cloth.
