First Kalima · Mihrab dome

The First Kalima, cut into a mihrab dome in steel

The declaration of faith set into a dome silhouette and cut from steel, sized for the corner where the family prays. Two heights, 69 and 95 cm, in eleven single and two-tone finishes.

Three decisions before it ships

  1. Size

Two sizes, 40 and 55 cm wide, drawn to scale against a sofa below.

  2. Finish

Eleven finishes — three single tones, and eight that set one metal inside another.

  3. Hanging

Mark a level line and match the fixing to the wall — that is the whole job.

What is written on it

The First Kalima

The declaration of faith. The dome and arch around it are the form a prayer space is oriented on, so the silhouette is carrying meaning rather than decoration.

لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللهُ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللهِ

“There is no god but Allah, Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.”

Kalima Tawheed

Size & scale

A dome wants height, and a wall to itself

Both sizes are considerably taller than they are wide, so what matters is the drop rather than the run of wall. They are drawn below at true scale above a three-seat sofa.

Three-seat sofa · 200 cm (79 in) wide, 82 cm (32 in) high L · 55 × 95 cm 21.7 × 37.4 in M · 40 × 69 cm 15.7 × 27.2 in
SizeWidth × height (in)Width × height (cm)Best for
M15.7 × 27.2″40 × 69 cmA prayer nook, an alcove, or beside a doorway
L21.7 × 37.4″55 × 95 cmThe wall you face when the mat is laid out

Mark it before you choose. Run painter's tape on the wall to the outer width and height, then stand back to where you normally sit and look at it from there. On a tall piece, hang it with its middle around 150 cm from the floor and the drop does the rest.

Craft

The depth is structural, not printed

The script is cut clean through the steel and the dome silhouette is cut as its own outline, so the wall shows through both. Two tones can then be set against each other, inner against outer.

  • Letterforms cut clean through, so the wall color becomes part of the artwork
  • Cut edges left clean through the fine strokes of the script
  • The weight and the edge of real metal rather than a printed panel

Why the cut matters. Because the script is cut out of the sheet rather than printed onto it, the wall behind becomes part of the artwork and the piece changes with the light in the room through the day.

Finishes

The finishes

Eight of the eleven are two-tone: one metal for the script, another for the surround. The other three run a single tone throughout.

In Shiny Gold Out Black

The script in shiny gold inside a black surround, so the calligraphy carries the eye and the frame holds back — the shiny gold throws the most light back into the room.

The script in shiny silver inside a black surround, so the calligraphy carries the eye and the frame holds back — the shiny silver lifts a wall that sits away from a window.

First Kalima metal mihrab wall art in black

Black

The sharpest contrast of the set against a pale wall, and the one that reads most clearly from across a room.

First Kalima metal mihrab wall art in matte gold

Matte Gold

Warmth without shine, which suits a room lit mostly by lamps rather than daylight.

First Kalima metal mihrab wall art in matte silver

Matte Silver

Cool and quiet, and the easiest to place in a room that already has chrome or glass in it.

Hanging it

Mark the center, not the top

A cut silhouette is more forgiving of a top edge than a straight-sided panel, but the center line still decides whether it looks right.

  1. Mark the center, not the top

Pencil a point about 150 cm up from the floor. On a tall piece the center line matters more than the top edge.

  2. Tape the outline first

Painter's tape to the full width and height lets you judge the position from where you normally sit.

  3. Hang and level

Hook it onto its fixing, slide it until it sits straight, then step back across the room to confirm.

Where it goes

Where it goes

The prayer corner

The wall you face when you lay out the mat, at standing eye level rather than above it.

A hallway or landing

It reads on the way past, on a wall people walk by rather than sit in front of.

Above a console

A main living-room wall, centered on the furniture beneath rather than on the wall as a whole.

Care

Keeping it as it arrived

Dry cloth only

A soft, dry cloth along the length of the script. Nothing abrasive.

No cleaners

Alcohol, glass cleaner and polish will mark a finished metal surface. A barely damp cloth, dried at once, is enough.

Away from damp

An indoor piece. Keep it off bathroom walls and away from a kitchen extractor.

Choose your size and finish

Two sizes, and the finish is the rest of the decision. Tape the outline on the wall first — it is the only measurement that matters.

Frequently Asked Questions

The First Kalima is the 'Key to Jannah.' Scholars from the Islamic Bulletin note that its presence in a home creates an environment of 'Tawhid' (Oneness). It acts as a spiritual anchor, reminding the residents to align every action with the pleasure of Allah and the example of the Prophet (PBUH).

Yes, it is highly encouraged as a form of 'Dhikr' (remembrance). The key is 'Adab' (etiquette): it must be placed in a clean, elevated position, typically above eye level. It should never be placed near floors, in bathrooms, or in areas where it might be treated with disrespect.

No. Our metal pieces undergo a premium electro-coating process in Turkey. This industrial-grade finish creates a chemical bond that is rust-resistant and tarnish-proof. Whether you choose Gold, Silver, or Black, the finish is designed to maintain its brilliant, mirror-like luster for decades.

The most traditional and respectful locations are the living room foyer or a dedicated prayer space (Musallah). Hanging it near the entrance of the home is a powerful way to set the spiritual tone for everyone who enters, reminding them of the foundation of their faith.

Accuracy is treated as a sacred 'Amanah' (trust). Every piece is designed in Turkey and cross-referenced with the Uthmani. Master calligraphers meticulously verify every 'Nuqta' (dot) and 'Haraka' (vowel mark) to ensure the divine words are perfectly preserved.

Our wood art offers a warm, 3D organic feel that brings a traditional aesthetic. Our metal art features a sleek, high-end finish with industrial durability. Both materials are handcrafted in our Turkish workshop to ensure museum-quality standards.

Yes, it is common to hang it in a bedroom as a source of peace and a reminder to make the Kalima one's final thought before sleep. Ensure it is mounted securely and high on the wall to maintain the respect due to the declaration of faith.

Treat the art with the same respect as a Mushaf. We recommend using a soft, dry microfiber cloth to gently remove dust. Avoid water or chemical cleaners, as they are unnecessary for our premium finishes and could potentially dull the luster over time.

Our metal art is engineered to be sturdy yet lightweight. Most pieces are designed to be hung with a single nail. They often feature built-in spacers that allow the art to sit 1.5 cm away from the wall, creating a beautiful 3D shadow effect that adds depth to the script.

Turkey is the historical heart of Islamic calligraphy. By manufacturing in our Turkish workshop, we employ craftsmen who have inherited centuries of artistic tradition. This ensures that the proportions of every letter are aesthetically and scripturally perfect, a quality mass-produced items cannot match.

Our Islamic Mihrab Wall Decors are made out of durable metal material.

Unfortunately, our Islamic Metal Mihrabs are not suitable for corners. However, you can see our wooden options for this purpose.

Yes, our Metal Mihrab Decors are pretty easy to install with the help of a little hardware such as nails or screws.
