Kalima Tayyaba

The First Kalima, in a shorter horizontal cut

Kalima Tayyaba set in a compact horizontal form, cut from 1.5 mm metal and standing 1.5 cm clear of the wall. Three sizes, 50 to 110 cm wide.

Three decisions before it ships

  1. Size

Three sizes, 110 and 50 and 80 cm wide, drawn to scale against a sofa below.

  2. Finish

Four finishes — matte gold, silver, copper or black.

  3. Hanging

One nail through the bracket already fitted to the back.

What is written on it

Kalima Tayyaba

The declaration of faith in a shorter setting than the stretched horizontal — the same words, given more height and less run.

لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللهُ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللهِ

“There is no god but Allah, Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.”

Kalima Tayyaba

Size & scale

Measured against a sofa, not a photograph

All three are around twice as wide as they are tall, which makes them easier to place than a long banner. They are drawn below at true scale above a three-seat sofa.

Three-seat sofa · 200 cm (79 in) wide, 82 cm (32 in) high XL · 110 × 49 cm 43.3 × 19.3 in L · 80 × 38 cm 31.5 × 15 in M · 50 × 24 cm 19.7 × 9.4 in
SizeWidth × height (in)Width × height (cm)Best for
M19.7 × 9.4″50 × 24 cmA landing, an alcove, or above a narrow console
L31.5 × 15″80 × 38 cmAbove a console or a two-seat sofa
XL43.3 × 19.3″110 × 49 cmA main living-room wall or above a sideboard

Match it to the furniture, not the wall. A low horizontal piece looks right when it spans roughly two thirds of whatever sits beneath it. Run painter's tape to the full width first and look at it from where you normally sit.

Materials

Craft

The depth is structural, not printed

Cut clean through the metal, so the wall color becomes part of the artwork. Mounted 1.5 cm proud, the script carries a shadow that moves with the light.

  • Letterforms cut clean through, so the wall color becomes part of the artwork
  • Electrostatic powder coating, baked on for a hard, even surface
  • No odour and no harmful substances

A coating that is baked, not sprayed. Powder is applied electrostatically and then cured, which gives a harder and more even surface than a sprayed paint and holds its color without yellowing.

Finishes

The finishes

All four are matte, which gives the most uniform surface and the quietest presence on a wall.

First Kalima short horizontal metal wall art in matte gold

Matte Gold

Powder coated. Warmth without shine, which suits a room lit mostly by lamps rather than daylight.

First Kalima short horizontal metal wall art in matte silver

Matte Silver

Powder coated. Cool and quiet, and the easiest to place in a room that already has chrome or glass in it.

First Kalima short horizontal metal wall art in matte copper

Matte Copper

Powder coated. The warmest of the matte finishes, and the one that reads best against green, clay or deep neutral walls.

First Kalima short horizontal metal wall art in black

Black

The sharpest contrast of the set against a pale wall, and the one that reads most clearly from across a room.

Hanging it

One nail, and one level line

It hangs from the bracket on its back, so the whole job is putting one nail on a line you have measured rather than guessed.

  1. Lay it down and measure to the bracket

Set it face up and measure from the left edge to the bracket. That single number is the whole job.

  2. Pencil one level line

Mark a light horizontal line at bracket height, centered on the furniture below rather than on the wall as a whole.

  3. Tape the width, then hang

Painter's tape to the full width shows you the position from across the room. Hang it and check it against the line.

Where it goes

Where it goes

Above the sofa

The wall this was designed for, spanning roughly two thirds of the seat beneath it.

Dining and console walls

A long, low piece sits naturally over a sideboard or a dining table, where a tall piece would crowd the ceiling.

Entryway and hallway

Cut work keeps a corridor from feeling closed in, because the wall reads through the letterforms.

Care

Keeping it as it arrived

Dry cloth only

A soft, dry cloth along the length of the script. A baked powder coat is harder than sprayed paint and takes dusting well.

No solvents

Alcohol, glass cleaner and polish will dull a matte surface. If a mark will not lift dry, use a barely damp cloth and dry it at once.

Damp resistant

The powder coat handles humidity better than a painted finish. Give it an indoor wall away from a bathroom or a kitchen extractor.

Choose your size and finish

Three sizes, and the finish is the rest of the decision. Tape the width on the wall first — it is the only measurement that matters.

Frequently Asked Questions

The First Kalima is the 'Key to Jannah.' Scholars from the Islamic Bulletin note that its presence in a home creates an environment of 'Tawhid' (Oneness). It acts as a spiritual anchor, reminding the residents to align every action with the pleasure of Allah and the example of the Prophet (PBUH).

Yes, it is highly encouraged as a form of 'Dhikr' (remembrance). The key is 'Adab' (etiquette): it must be placed in a clean, elevated position, typically above eye level. It should never be placed near floors, in bathrooms, or in areas where it might be treated with disrespect.

No. Our metal pieces undergo a premium electro-coating process in Turkey. This industrial-grade finish creates a chemical bond that is rust-resistant and tarnish-proof. Whether you choose Gold, Silver, or Black, the finish is designed to maintain its brilliant, mirror-like luster for decades.

The most traditional and respectful locations are the living room foyer or a dedicated prayer space (Musallah). Hanging it near the entrance of the home is a powerful way to set the spiritual tone for everyone who enters, reminding them of the foundation of their faith.

Accuracy is treated as a sacred 'Amanah' (trust). Every piece is designed in Turkey and cross-referenced with the Uthmani. Master calligraphers meticulously verify every 'Nuqta' (dot) and 'Haraka' (vowel mark) to ensure the divine words are perfectly preserved.

Our wood art offers a warm, 3D organic feel that brings a traditional aesthetic. Our metal art features a sleek, high-end finish with industrial durability. Both materials are handcrafted in our Turkish workshop to ensure museum-quality standards.

Yes, it is common to hang it in a bedroom as a source of peace and a reminder to make the Kalima one's final thought before sleep. Ensure it is mounted securely and high on the wall to maintain the respect due to the declaration of faith.

Treat the art with the same respect as a Mushaf. We recommend using a soft, dry microfiber cloth to gently remove dust. Avoid water or chemical cleaners, as they are unnecessary for our premium finishes and could potentially dull the luster over time.

Our metal art is engineered to be sturdy yet lightweight. Most pieces are designed to be hung with a single nail. They often feature built-in spacers that allow the art to sit 1.5 cm away from the wall, creating a beautiful 3D shadow effect that adds depth to the script.

Turkey is the historical heart of Islamic calligraphy. By manufacturing in our Turkish workshop, we employ craftsmen who have inherited centuries of artistic tradition. This ensures that the proportions of every letter are aesthetically and scripturally perfect, a quality mass-produced items cannot match.

The screws in the metal wall art are for the hanging bracket on the back and for the blind feet to provide a 3D view. Never attempt to remove them.

Metal products can be used outdoors, but are not recommended for direct rain, moisture or sunlight.

Yes, it can be done. First, confirm with customer service whether this is possible. If our designer approves, you will receive a custom order payment link.

Our products are made by hand, using labor-intensive techniques. Some minor defects are within the limits, and we indicate this in the listing details. If you detect a defect that exceeds the limits, contact customer service.

It will not darken unless exposed to moisture in normal indoor environments. We do not recommend protecting it from moisture or exposure to rain or direct sunlight outdoors.

We do not recommend any chemical products. You can remove dust with a slightly damp cloth.
