When Is Ramadan? 2027 Dates and Home Preparation Guide

Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin on Monday, February 8, 2027, with the first suhoor in the early hours of that morning, and Eid al-Fitr is expected on Tuesday, March 9, 2027. The run-up starts sooner than most calendars show: Rajab begins on December 10, 2026 and Sha’ban on January 9, 2027. A local moon sighting can move any of these by a day.

The 2026–27 calendar, from Rajab to the new Hijri year

Hijri months begin at sunset, so each new month below starts on the evening before the date shown. Rajab and Sha’ban are the two months leading into Ramadan, which is why they are on this page: for planning a home, the season really starts in December.

Ramadan 2027 will run 29 or 30 days depending on the sighting at the end of the month, so Eid lands on March 9 or March 10. Plan family gatherings around the earlier date and you will not be caught out.

Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr dates through 2032

If you are booking travel, planning a wedding around the month, or simply want to know when Ramadan lands in a few years, here is the outlook. All dates are calculated, not sighted.

2030 is the year to watch. Ramadan falls twice inside the same Gregorian year — once in early January and again from late December. Households that decorate for Ramadan will be doing it twice in twelve months.

Why the dates move about eleven days each year

The Hijri calendar is lunar. Twelve lunar months come to 354 or 355 days, roughly eleven days short of the 365-day Gregorian year, so Ramadan walks backwards through the seasons and completes a full circuit about every 33 years.

Right now the month is moving out of late winter and into the depth of winter: February in 2027, January by 2029, December by 2031. For anyone in the northern hemisphere that means shorter daylight hours through the month, and for the home it means Ramadan increasingly overlaps with the darkest evenings of the year — which is part of why lanterns have become such a large share of what people set up.

Order in the four weeks before the first fast — our data shows why

We can answer the “when should I get ready?” question with something better than a guess. Across our Ramadan range, 1,171 orders were placed between mid-December 2025 and late March 2026. Ramadan 2026 began on February 18–19. Here is how those orders were distributed:

Two things stand out. First, nearly two thirds of the whole season is concentrated into four weeks. Second, the drop is abrupt: the week containing the first fast took 230 orders, and the following week took 72 — a fall of 69% in seven days. Once the month has begun, people stop buying decor and start using it.

What that means for 2027. With the first fast on Monday, February 8, the equivalent window is January 11 to February 7, 2027. The earlier half of it is the safer half: every piece we sell is made to order, with 1–5 business days of production before it ships, and anything personalized or crossing a border needs that margin.

Buy the size you will end up wanting: what last season’s orders chose

The other question we hear every season is “which size?” Between December 1, 2025 and March 31, 2026, buyers of our three most-ordered seasonal pieces went bigger, and bought in sets, more often than not:

• Our freestanding metal crescent and star sold 176 in the largest size, 102 × 86 cm (40.2 × 33.9″), against 82 in 67 × 57 cm and 44 in 52 × 44 cm. Gold accounted for 251 of the 302 sold.
• The openwork metal lantern sold 137 as a set of three heights (41, 60 and 77 cm) against 116 as single lanterns.
• The Bismillah date holders sold 110 sets of twelve against 40 sets of six — enough for a full table when guests come for iftar.

Before choosing the large crescent, measure the floor spot rather than the wall: it stands on its own base, measures 102 × 86 cm and weighs 7.3 kg (16.1 lb), so it needs a clear corner or the space beside a sofa rather than a narrow hallway. Our size guide covers measuring for wall pieces.

A preparation calendar for Ramadan 2027

Dress the home in three layers: floor, table, children

Most homes build up the same three layers: a standing piece that changes the room, something on the iftar table, and something for the children to count the days with.

Floor and console. The pieces that sell most in the season are not wall-hung: the crescents and lanterns stand on their own bases, on the floor, a console or a deep windowsill. Besides the crescent above, there is a taller rising crescent with a hanging star in 84 × 62 cm (33.1 × 24.4″) and 137 × 102 cm (53.9 × 40.2″), and the lantern set in three heights, which needs assembling at home. The table. Iftar happens at the same table thirty nights running, so this is where small pieces earn their keep. Frequently asked questions

Is February 8, 2027 confirmed?

It is the calculated date, and it matches the Umm al-Qura calendar. The religious start is confirmed by moon sighting, announced by national authorities a day or two beforehand, so the first fast may be February 8 or 9 depending on where you are.

Why does my country start a day later than my relatives abroad?

Because the crescent becomes visible at different times around the world, and because countries differ on whether they follow local sighting, regional sighting, or calculation. A one-day difference between families in different countries is completely normal and happens most years.

When do Rajab and Sha’ban begin this year?

Rajab 1448 is expected to begin on Thursday, December 10, 2026, and Sha’ban on Saturday, January 9, 2027. Both start at sunset the evening before, and both can shift by a day with the local sighting.

How many days will Ramadan 2027 last?

Twenty-nine or thirty, decided by the sighting at the end of the month. Counting from February 8, a 29-day month ends with Eid on March 9 and a 30-day month on March 10.

When should I start decorating?

Our own orders point to the four weeks before the first fast, which for 2027 means from January 11. Start at the beginning of that window rather than the end — made-to-order and personalized pieces need the production time, and international delivery adds more on top.

When is Ramadan in 2028?

Friday, January 28, 2028, with Eid al-Fitr expected on Saturday, February 26. This page is updated with the new calendar each autumn.
