Ahlan wa Sahlan

Cut from MDF, faced in acrylic

Ahlan wa Sahlan, cut from 6 mm MDF with acrylic bonded onto the face. Made in one size, 30 × 16 cm.

Three decisions before it ships

  1. Size

Made in one size, 30 × 16 cm, drawn to scale against a table below.

  2. Finish

Two finishes — gold or silver.

  3. In use

It stands on the table as it is, ready to use.

Size in the hand

Made in one size, 30 × 16 cm

One size only, 30 × 16 cm. It is drawn below at true scale against a dining table, which is the honest way to judge it.

Measure the surface, not the wall. A table piece is judged on the depth of the surface it stands on rather than the width of the room. Measure front to back, and leave enough room that it is not the first thing knocked when someone reaches past it.

Craft

Bonded on, not painted and not printed

The body is cut from 6 mm MDF and a single layer of acrylic is bonded onto the face. Nothing here is painted and nothing is printed, which is why the script keeps an edge you can feel and reads from the far end of a table rather than flattening out.

  • 6 mm MDF with a single acrylic layer bonded on
  • Cut from 6 mm MDF, so the piece has real thickness standing on a table
  • A single layer of acrylic is bonded onto the face — not paint, and not print
  • A gloss surface, which is what carries the light across a table

On the acrylic face. The gold and the silver are acrylic laid over the wood, not paint and not print — which is why the letters keep an edge you can feel with a fingernail and why they read from across a table rather than flattening out.

Finishes

The finishes

The cut is the same in every one; what changes is the tone it reads in. Pick against the surface it will stand on rather than against the photograph.

Ahlan wa Sahlan on a table in gold

Gold

Warm and bright, and the one that reads best against off-white and cream walls.

Ahlan wa Sahlan on a table in silver

Silver

Cool and quiet, and the easiest to place in a room that already has chrome or glass in it.

Using it

Living with it

A table piece is set down once and left, so the two minutes spent deciding where are the whole job.

  1. Set it down and step back

There is nothing to assemble. Put it where you think it goes, then look from where people will actually sit.

  2. Give it a surface that stays dry

Spills and steam are what shorten the life of a table piece, so keep it clear of the serving end of the table.

  3. Back from the edge

A hand’s width in from the front, so it is not the first thing knocked when someone reaches past it.

  • Packed for transit

Where it lives

Where it goes

A console or a sideboard

The run of furniture guests pass, where a piece this size is seen at standing height rather than looked up at.

A shelf or a bookcase ledge

It needs depth rather than width, which is what a shelf has and a wall does not.

A desk or a study table

Close enough to be read at arm’s length, which is the distance the detail is cut for.

Care

Keeping it as it arrived

Dry cloth only

Water, alcohol and household cleaners lift the acrylic off the face. A dry, soft cloth is the whole routine.

Mind the gloss

A glossy surface takes fingerprints. Handle it by the edges and it stays clean between dustings.

Keep it off a wet table

MDF swells if it stands in a spill. Wipe the table, not the piece.

Pick yours

One size, one construction. Check the depth of the surface it is going on — a table piece is judged front to back rather than across.

Frequently Asked Questions

The phrase is deeply rooted in hospitality and kindness. 'Ahlan' comes from 'Ahl' (family), and 'Sahlan' comes from 'Sahl' (plain/easy path). Together, they translate to 'You have come to your family and have found ease.' It embodies the Islamic tradition of welcoming guests with an open heart and providing them with a sanctuary of comfort.

The most respectful and traditional placement is the entryway or foyer. According to Islamic etiquette, the first thing a guest should feel is welcomed and at ease. Placing this art near your front door serves as an immediate visual 'Salam' and sets a spiritual tone of hospitality for everyone who enters your home.

No, our wooden pieces are manufactured in Turkey using high-quality MDF that is specifically treated for durability. This material is more resistant to the expansion and contraction caused by humidity changes compared to solid wood, ensuring your welcome sign remains a beautiful, flat, and intact focal point for years.

It depends on your interior style. Wood arts offer a warm, organic feel that complements traditional or rustic decor. Metal arts provide a sleek, modern look with a premium electro-coated finish. Both are crafted with the same attention to scriptural accuracy and Turkish craftsmanship.

While the physical art is a beautiful reminder, Islamic teachings emphasize the intention. Hanging this verse shows your commitment to 'Ikram al-Dayf' (honoring the guest), which is a virtue highly praised by the Prophet (PBUH). The art serves as a constant 'Dhikr' for you and a comfort for your visitors.

Our metal art is designed to be lightweight despite its durable industrial finish. Most pieces can be easily hung using a single nail or the specialized mounting hardware provided. This ensures that you can display the sacred script securely without the need for heavy-duty tools or damaging your walls.

We recommend hanging our art in sheltered areas or indoors. While our metal pieces are electro-coated for rust resistance, direct exposure to rain or harsh sunlight over many years can eventually affect the finish. Placing it just inside the entryway or in a covered porch area ensures the art stays in pristine condition.

Our art is designed for easy relocation. Simply lift it from its mounting point and move it to a new location. We suggest handling the piece with care and cleanliness, keeping in mind that it represents a significant value in Islamic culture. Always ensure the script remains elevated and never touches the floor during the move.

With over 6,000 positive reviews, IWA is the authority in premium Islamic art. Every piece is designed and produced in Turkey, combining modern precision with a deep respect for Arabic calligraphy. We offer 24/7 support and 3-5 day shipping to ensure your experience is as seamless as the art itself.

While the choice of color is largely aesthetic, Gold and Silver are traditionally associated with the honor and radiance of the Message. Black provides a modern, bold contrast that makes the calligraphy stand out. Choose the finish that best inspires a sense of 'Khushu' (tranquility and focus) within your specific home environment.

The tabletop decor pieces are crafted from high-quality materials such as MDF wood, metal, and acrylic. These materials ensure durability and a premium finish, making them suitable for long-term display in various settings.

Yes, the tabletop decor items come fully assembled and ready to display. Their freestanding designs make them easy to place on tables, shelves, or mantels without the need for additional installation.

The Islamic Wall Art Store offers a 30-day return policy. If you're not satisfied with your purchase, you can return the item in its original condition and packaging within 30 days of receipt.
