The Basmala

Acrylic calligraphy on a long glass panel

The Basmala set in acrylic over tempered glass. Made in one size, 90 × 33 cm.

Three decisions before it ships

  1. Size

Made in one size, 90 × 33 cm, drawn to scale against a sofa below.

  2. Finish

Two grounds — gold on black or silver on black.

  3. Hanging

A hanging part is fitted to the back and one nail carries it. It ships ready to hang.

What is written on it

The words themselves

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful — said before anything begins, which is why it goes above a door as often as on a wall.

بِسْمِ ﷲِ الرَّحْمَنِ اارَّحِيم

“In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.”

The Basmala

Size & scale

Made in one size, 90 × 33 cm

One size only, 90 × 33 cm, so the decision is the wall rather than the piece. It is drawn below at true scale above a three-seat sofa, which is the only honest way to judge it.

Three-seat sofa · 200 cm (79 in) wide, 82 cm (32 in) high L · 90 × 33 cm 35.4 × 13 in
SizeWidth × height (in)Width × height (cm)Best for
L35.4 × 13″90 × 33 cmAbove a three-seat sofa or a sideboard

Match it to the furniture, not the wall. A low horizontal piece looks right when it spans roughly two thirds of whatever sits beneath it. Run painter's tape to the full width first and look at it from where you normally sit.

Craft

Acrylic on glass, not printed on it

The calligraphy is cut from acrylic and laid onto the glass, so it stands proud of the surface. The glass is produced as one piece.

  • Acrylic calligraphy standing proud of the glass
  • Calligraphy in acrylic, layered onto the painted glass rather than printed on it
  • Tempered glass at 4 mm, produced as a single piece
  • A metal hanging part fitted to the back, so nothing shows on the face

On tempered glass. Tempered glass is heat-treated after cutting, which is what lets a single 4 mm sheet hang from one nail and take a knock without a frame around it. The color is painted onto the glass, so it sits behind the surface you touch.

Finishes

The finishes

Every option is the same glass and the same text; what changes is the ground behind it and the color on it. The darker grounds read from further away, the lighter ones keep a pale wall light.

Bismillah Jali Diwani on tempered glass in gold on black

Gold on Black

Gold calligraphy on a black ground. The gold is the warmer of the two, and the one that carries furthest in lamplight.

Bismillah Jali Diwani on tempered glass in silver on black

Silver on Black

Silver calligraphy on a black ground. The silver is cooler and sharper, and the easier one to place in a room with chrome or glass.

Hanging it

One nail, and one level line

Glass wants the hanger measured rather than guessed, and it wants carrying by the edges. Both take a minute.

  1. Lay it face down and find the hanger

Set it on a towel, face down, and measure from the top edge to the metal hanging part. That one number is the whole job.

  2. Pencil one level line

Mark a light horizontal line at hanger height, centered on the furniture below rather than on the wall as a whole.

  3. One nail, then lift by the edges

Set a single nail on the line. Carry the panel by its edges — never by the calligraphy — and hook it on.

  • Mounting bracket already fitted to the back
  • Ships ready to hang; no frame, glass or backing board to fit
  • Packed with corner protection for transit

Where it goes

Where it goes

Above the sofa

The wall a wide glass panel was made for, spanning roughly two thirds of the seat beneath it.

Dining and console walls

A long, low panel sits naturally over a sideboard, and glass takes the light a matte piece cannot.

An entry or hallway

A mirrored ground throws light back down a corridor, which is what makes a narrow space read wider.

Care

Keeping it as it arrived

Dry cloth only

A soft, dry cloth on the glass face. Nothing abrasive, and nothing on the acrylic calligraphy.

No ammonia or alcohol

Household glass cleaner attacks both the paint behind the glass and the acrylic on it. A barely damp cloth, dried at once, is enough.

Lift it by the edges

An 4 mm sheet is heavy for its size and the calligraphy stands proud of the face. Carry it by the edges, never by the script.

Choose your size and finish

One size, one construction. Tape the outline on the wall before you order — it is the only measurement that matters.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Basmala is the opening of almost every Surah in the Quran. Scholars at the Islamic Bulletin note that starting any task with 'Bismillah' aligns your intention with the Divine, transforming a mundane act into an act of 'Ibada' (worship). Having this on your wall acts as a constant visual prompt for 'Dhikr' (remembrance) for every family member.

Yes, it is highly encouraged. Displaying Quranic verses as a reminder is a time-honored tradition. As long as the art is hung with 'Adab'—meaning it is placed in a clean, high, and respectful location rather than near the floor or in bathrooms—it is considered a virtuous way to sanctify the home environment.

The most strategic and traditional placement is the entryway or the foyer. By placing it near the front door, it ensures that 'Bismillah' is the first thing recited upon entering and the last thing seen upon leaving. It sets a spiritual boundary for the home, inviting peace and warding off distractions.

Standard paint is a surface layer that can chip or flake. Our Turkish-made metal art uses electro-coating, which creates a chemical bond between the finish and the metal. This results in a much more resilient, rust-resistant surface that maintains its brilliant Gold, Silver, or Black luster for years without fading.

Ar-Rahman' refers to Allah's all-encompassing mercy that extends to all of creation, while 'Ar-Rahim' refers to His specific, intimate mercy for the believers. Displaying this verse reminds the household that they are constantly enveloped in both forms of Divine love and compassion.

Absolutely. Since we are commanded to say 'Bismillah' before eating, the dining room is an excellent location. It serves as a reminder for the family to recognize Allah as the 'Razzaq' (Provider) and to express gratitude for the sustenance provided at every meal.

We use high-density, premium materials sourced in Turkey, which is more stable than standard materials. It is specifically engineered to resist the expansion and contraction caused by indoor humidity. However, we recommend keeping wood art indoors and away from direct moisture to ensure its longevity.

We work with professional calligraphers in Turkey who are masters of the Arabic script. Every design is cross-referenced multiple sources to ensure every letter, vowel mark (haraka), and dot (nuqta) is perfectly placed according to the Uthmani codex, preserving the sanctity of the text.

Treat the art with 'Adab'—we suggest being in a state of 'Wudu' (ablution) when handling it. Use a soft, dry microfiber cloth to gently remove dust. Avoid any chemical cleaners or water, which are unnecessary for our premium finishes and could potentially dull the luster over time.

With over 6000+ successful reviews, our logistics are highly reliable. Once production is complete, we use express shipping to deliver your art in 3-5 business days. We provide 24/7 expert support and real-time tracking so you can follow your piece's journey from our workshop to your wall.

Tempered glass is moisture-resistant, but the artwork or ink used may not be waterproof. It's best to keep the art indoors and away from direct exposure to rain or high humidity. If used in bathrooms, ensure it's in a well-ventilated area and securely mounted.

While tempered glass itself resists UV damage, the printed artwork may gradually fade if exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods. For longevity, it's recommended to place your wall art away from harsh, direct sunlight or use UV-protective window films.

Use a soft microfiber cloth and a mild glass cleaner. Spray the cleaner onto the cloth (not directly onto the glass) and gently wipe the surface. Avoid abrasive materials or strong chemicals, as they may scratch the glass or damage the artwork's finish.

Yes, tempered glass is significantly stronger and safer than regular glass. It is heat-resistant and designed to shatter into small, less dangerous pieces if broken. This makes it safe for use in various rooms, including kitchens and even children's rooms—though proper installation is essential.
