Surah Ar-Rahman, verse 13

Cut in wood, laid on velvet, framed

Laser cut from wood, laid over a velvet ground and framed behind it. Made in one size, 50 × 110 cm.

Three decisions before it ships

  1. Size

Made in one size, 50 × 110 cm, drawn to scale against a sofa below.

  2. Finish

Six velvet grounds — anthracite, black, blue, cream, green or red, with calligraphy in gold or silver.

  3. Hanging

The hanging tools come in the box, so the only decision is how high it sits.

Size & scale

Made in one size, 50 × 110 cm

One size only, 50 × 110 cm. It is 50 cm wide and 110 cm tall, so the height above the furniture is the constraint. It is drawn below at true scale above a three-seat sofa.

Three-seat sofa · 200 cm (79 in) wide, 82 cm (32 in) high One size · 50 × 110 cm 19.7 × 43.3 in
SizeWidth × height (in)Width × height (cm)Best for
One size19.7 × 43.3″50 × 110 cmA narrow wall, a prayer corner, or beside a door

Mark it before you choose. Run painter's tape on the wall to the outer width and height, then stand back to where you normally sit and look at it from there. On a tall piece, hang it with its middle around 150 cm from the floor and the drop does the rest.

Craft

Three materials, one panel

The calligraphy is laser cut from wood and laid over a velvet ground, with a wooden frame around the whole panel. The velvet absorbs the light the cut wood reflects, and that difference is what the piece is built on.

  • Laser-cut wood over a velvet ground, framed
  • Calligraphy laser cut from wood and laid over a velvet ground
  • A wooden frame around the whole panel, with the hanging tools supplied
  • The cut edge of the wood left clean against the velvet behind it

On the velvet ground. Velvet absorbs light where the cut wood reflects it. That difference is the whole design: it is what makes the calligraphy read from across a room without any color contrast doing the work.

Hanging it

One level line, at reading height

A framed panel this wide is hung once and left, so the two minutes spent finding the level line are the whole job.

  1. Measure from the top edge to the fixing

Lay it face up on a clean surface, not face down — the velvet picks up whatever the table has on it. Measure from the top edge to the fixing on the frame.

  2. Pencil one level line at that height

Mark a light horizontal line, centered on the furniture below rather than on the wall as a whole. On a wide panel a degree off reads from the doorway.

  3. Hang by the frame, never the face

Lift it by two corners of the frame. A thumb on the velvet leaves a mark on the pile that shows from an angle for weeks.

Where it goes

Where it goes

The prayer corner

The wall you face when you lay out the mat, where a single piece is read rather than looked at.

Above a console or a sideboard

It sits over a run of furniture as one object, without needing a second piece to balance it.

A hallway or a study wall

One piece suits the wall you pass or sit facing, where a set would be too much.

Care

Keeping it as it arrived

Brush the velvet, do not wipe it

A soft, dry brush along the pile. A cloth drags the nap and leaves a mark that shows from an angle.

Nothing wet

Water spots velvet permanently and will swell the wood. Keep every liquid away from it.

Out of direct sun

Velvet fades faster than most surfaces in this catalog. An interior wall out of the midday light.

Choose your size and finish

One size, one construction. Tape the 50 × 110 cm outline on the wall before you order — a framed panel reads larger on a wall than in a photograph.

Frequently Asked Questions

Repetition in the Qur'an is a powerful rhetorical tool for emphasis. In this chapter, the verse acts as a rhythmic pulse that follows descriptions of various favors—from the creation of the sun and moon to the promise of Paradise. It forces a pause, asking the listener to reflect on a specific blessing before moving to the next, building a profound sense of 'Shukr' (gratitude).

The Arabic word 'Tukadhdhiban' is in the dual form. It specifically addresses two distinct groups of creation: Mankind and the Jinn. This highlights that Allah's favors and the subsequent obligation of gratitude extend beyond the visible human world to include all sentient beings created for worship.

It serves as a constant 'Reality Check.' In a modern world often focused on what we lack, this verse anchors the heart in what we already have. It is particularly effective in dining areas or family rooms, where it encourages a culture of mindfulness and verbalizing 'Alhamdulillah' in daily life.

The 3D effect is achieved through a multi-layered precision laser-cutting process. Each piece is mounted to sit approximately 1.5 cm away from the wall. This offset creates a shadow-play effect; as your room's lighting shifts throughout the day, the calligraphy casts varying shadows, giving the sacred text a tangible, sculptural presence that flat prints cannot match.

Yes. Every piece undergoes a professional electrostatic powder-coating process. This creates a finish that is anti-tarnish (resisting oxidation), moisture-resistant (safe for humid areas or coastal homes), and UV-protected to prevent fading even in direct sunlight.

Maintenance is intentionally minimal. Because the specialized coating is non-porous, a simple dusting with a dry, soft microfiber cloth once a month is all that is required. We recommend avoiding wet wipes or chemical cleaners to preserve the integrity of the specialized protective layer.

Yes. Each design features an integrated hanging system on the reverse side. This allows the piece to sit securely against the wall with a professional 'floating' look, keeping the focus entirely on the calligraphy without visible or distracting hardware.
