Which Dua to Pray for Earthquake?

Earthquake prayers are prayers that are recited for protection from natural disasters and to ask for help. We can give some examples of these prayers:

"Bismillahi lâ yedurru mea ismihî shay'in fil ardi wa lâ fi's-semai" Prayer

English Reading: Bismillahi laa yedurru mea ismihi shay'in fil ardi va laa fi's-semai va huwaas-semi'ul-alim.

"Ya Malikul Mulk" Dua

English pronunciation: Allahumme malikel mulki tu'til mulke men tasaau va tenzi'ul mulke mimmen tasaau va tu'izzu men tasaau va tuzillu men tasaau biedikel hayr innakea aalea kulli shay'in kadîr

Meaning: O Allah, the Owner of the property! You give the property to whom You will and You take it from whom You will. You make whomsoever You will glorify and whomsoever You will humiliate. Good is in Your hand. Surely You are all-powerful.

These prayers can provide moral support in disasters such as earthquakes by reminding us of Allah's protection and power. In particular, the prayer "Bismillahi la yedurru mea ismihi shay'in fil ardi wa la fi's-semai" is a protection prayer that is recommended to be recited daily.

Beyond Earthquake Prayer: Ayat-ul Kursi

Ayat-ul Kursi, which we can also read as an earthquake prayer, is one of the most powerful verses of the Holy Quran. Ayat-ul Kursi, the 255th verse of Surat al-Baqara, is known for its protective feature.

Reading this verse makes us feel under the protection of Allah and creates a spiritual shield for us.

Arabic Recitation: Allāhu la ilāaha illâ hüve'l-hayyü'l-kayyûm. Lâ te'huzühû sinatun wa lâ nevm. Lehu mâ fi's-samawâti wa mâ fi'l-ard. Men zellezî yashfeu indhû illa biiznih. Ya'lemu mâ bayna aydîhim va mâ halfehum va lâ yuhîtûna bi shay'in min ilmihî illa bimâ shâ'. Vasi'a kursiyyuhû's-samâwâti wa'l-ard. Wa la yaûduhû hifzuhumâ va huwa al-aliyyü'l-azîm.

English Meaning: Allah, there is no god besides Him. He is the living, the trustworthy. No slumber or sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth. Who is there who can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what is behind them. They can comprehend of His knowledge only as much as He wills. And His Chair encompasses the heavens and the earth. Their protection is not too heavy for Him. He is the Exalted, the Great.

Importance of Earthquake Prayer

Earthquake prayer is of great importance in events that remind us of the power and might of human beings and at the same time make us realize the greatness of Allah. Prayers during and after an earthquake are both a spiritual refuge and one of the most powerful ways of asking for divine help. The Messenger of Allah (saw) encouraged turning to Allah and asking for His help in such disasters.

Earthquakes, as events that remind people of Allah's power and wisdom, lead people to contemplate and gain spiritual strength. Prayers at such moments soothe our hearts and bring us closer to our Lord.

Prayers after an earthquake are of great importance both individually and socially. As Muslims, we turn to Allah alone and ask for His help in times of difficulty such as earthquakes.

This is a power that comforts our hearts and keeps our hopes alive. The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "Prayer is the weapon of the believer" (Hakim, al-Mustadrek, 2/162). Our prayers increase our strength in the face of great disasters such as earthquakes and strengthen us spiritually.
